How do I give feedback on a student’s draft?
Open a draft in Feedback mode, highlight a passage, write a comment, and send it so the student sees it beside their writing.
Feedback mode lets you comment on a student’s Draft Mode writing while they are still working on it. Highlight a passage, write a comment, and the student sees it beside that passage in their own editor, where they can reply.
It suits a checkpoint in the middle of a task, when a comment can still change what the student writes next.
Giving feedback
Worth knowing
New comments start as Hold until released, so you can mark a whole draft and send it when you are ready. Your choice is remembered for next time.
If the student keeps writing while you comment, select Show their latest to see their new words. Your comment is kept.
Overall feedback at the foot of the Feedback column is separate from comments. It is for a summary, and has its own Hide and Release switch.
Feedback mode is for Draft Mode tasks. If you do not see Give feedback on a student’s draft, email support@thinkingmode.com and we will switch it on.
